Promoting good design in a historic environment

Parmoor House

Home of the Cheltenham Civic Society

Parmoor House, dating from 1862 and a Grade II listed building, is in the exceptional Italianate-style Lypiatt Terrace, begun in 1847, by S W Daukes.

The House was gifted to the Civic Society by Lord Parmoor in 1964 with the intention

“… that the Society should have a headquarters from which it can pursue its activities and use every endeavour to influence the future development of the town so that its character may, as far as possible, be preserved and its beauty enhanced”.

Today, the house continues to be the meeting place not only for the Civic Society but also for many other local organisations who value the quiet, period charm of this conveniently situated house, just a few minutes from the busy Montpellier area.
