Cheltenham Civic Society aims to stimulate

  • interest in the history and character of the town,
  • preservation and conservation of its best architectural and historical features,
  • promotion of the highest standards of planning and design in new building and landscaping.

 

Membership is open to anyone with a genuine interest in the aims of the Society

The society’s activities include

  • a programme of events on subjects around the aims of the society
  • a planning forum which provides advice to the Cheltenham Planning Committee
  • full involvement in consultations on the future of developments in the town
  • organising the annual Civic Awards to reward good design in architecture within Cheltenham
  • support for the annual Heritage Open Days in September
  • installation of plaques on buildings to commemorate their association with significant people or events
  • projects to improve the town
  • a newsletter

Parmoor House in Lypiatt Terrace is the home of the Society

It is an ideal meeting place set in one of Cheltenham’s most beautiful terraces and has a number of rooms available for use for groups and meetings.
